Hamsa The image of the Swan is a metaphor for the individual soul (hamsa). The swan’s journey is to ascend upward and homeward to the realm of light that is God the Beloved, the Ocean of Love and Oneness. Once reaching this Realm of Light, the swan merges with God the Supreme (Paramahamsa), and ceases to be a separate soul.
